"Brindl's voice makes you stop what you're doing and forget where you are. The moment she starts singing, the crowd is captivated. Like Norah Jones or Sarah Harmer, Brindl sings with sensuality and grace." (Drew Pearce, Contributing Writer for Acoustic Guitar Magazine)
Recently released by Moxy Music, “Acoustic Heart” is a collection of 12 new intimate and acoustic songs from San Francisco Bay Area singer-songwriter Brindl. The songs range from hopeful to heartbreaking with gently strummed guitar, layered harmonies and evocative piano solos. Reminiscent of Patty Griffin’s “Living With Ghosts,” Brindl’s strong vocals and compelling stories are the driving force of Acoustic Heart. “I am inspired by the acoustic albums of artists like Gillian Welch and Patty Griffin. There is a rawness and honesty to an acoustic recording that I love.” Born in New York state and raised in California, Brindl started writing songs on her brother’s guitar at 16. She was influenced by everything from 70’s singer-songwriters like Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills and Nash to jazz singers of the 30’s and 40’s like Billy Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald. (Her grandmother was 30’s singer, Connie Gates) Brindl has played live at venues up and down the West Coast, on KWMR and KRCB and has shared the stage with artists such as Sean Hayes Danny Schmidt. She recorded “Sweet Underneath” in 2001, “Nice Girl” EP in 2004 and started her own label, Moxy Music, to release “Acoustic Heart” in 2008 with the mission to support independent musicians. |
