Born in New Orleans, Louisiana... Carl Dennis has been singing all of his life. His most recent work has been singing lead vocals with Linda Kelly, Barbara Baugh and John Mosley in his newly formed gospel quartet "Blue Psalms". The melodic and smooth falsetto tenor was also a member of the New Orleans based gospel group “The Masonic Kings” founded in 1926 by Mr.George Brooks Sr. and carried on to this day by his son George Brooks Jr. He performed with the popular local singing group Ardiche' and was lead vocalist for two of the most famous bands in the New Orleans area in the 1970's, The Family Players Band and The Band Windjammer who in 1984 had the number two song in the United kingdom called Tossing and Turning. Carl Dennis has penned some great lyrics to various musical genres... Country Western, R&B, and now Gospel. The truest gift of his writing is his ability to capture and relate a heartfelt story through his passionate and descriptive lyrics. Carl developed a talent for writing and performing songs specifically tailored for individual artists and special occasions.
Raised in the lower 9th ward of New Orleans, in a home that his Mother always filled with the word of God and music that covered the spectrum of styles and artists…Such as Brook Benton, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Frank Sinatra, Nat "King" Cole, James Cleveland, Ella Fitzgerald, Lawrence Welk, Count Basie, Nelson Riddle, Smokey and The Miracles and The Temptations as well as the symphony music played on the soundtracks of Warner Bros cartoons… These artists and this music shaped Carl sense of musical composition, and his overall appreciation for these beautiful and interesting sounds. Now coming full circle, he knows that it has been the hand of God that his guided his career thus far, and is now leading him fully into the realm of Gospel music. Carl says that God has always been at the center of his life, so it is his absolute joy to be able to write and sing about His goodness.
