A certified over-achiever, ready to solidify her position as the newest R&B/Dancehall sensation hailing from Massachusetts, Janisa is equipped with the charismatic vocal ability and flawless choreography needed to excite entire audiences. Panamanian- American, songwriter-singer, Janisa has been immersing herself into various aspects of the entertainment business for the past eight years. A well traveled army-brat with a penchant for songwriting, her resume includes successful stints in acting, modeling, radio and TV personality hosting. Janisa’s career- high achievements include being selected as Video Jockey finalist for Music powerhouse, Fuse Television. Janisa is known for her relentless ambition, having graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting and the University of Rhode Island while simultaneously working at high-ranking Hot 106.3. While at WWKX Radio in Rhode Island, Janisa earned the highest ratings for her primetime slot in the region, airing current R&B, Hip-Hop & Dancehall hits. Janisa is now creating an impressive fan base in New England, Miami and New York due in part to her intriguing voice and welcoming demeanor. Janisa’s thought-provoking album "This is For You", will soon be released independently via Push-A-Pen Entertainment, a limited liability company of which Janisa is CEO & co-founder. Dancehall and R&B fans alike will have plenty of hot records to chose from such as the ingenious ballad labeled after the album title, sung over the infectious production of which Superstar Jay-Z rapped his most infamous lines in " Dead Presidents". This lyrical track showcases the depth of Janisa’s strong persona and also reveals the deep-rooted branding power she demonstrates as a young, female, artist.
Sporadically labeled as an R& B version of former Roc-a-Fella artist Amil meets Dancehall Heavyweight Tanya Stephens, Janisa Shies away from comparisons. “ I truly believe my artistry will set its own precedent.” Janisa has already garnered positive acknowledgment and praise from established artist within the Hip-Hop and Dancehall industries such as Red Café, Cam’ ron, Freeway, Da Brat, Wayne Wonder, Elephant Man, and Former BET Personality Tiffany amongst others. Janisa discovered her love of music at the age of eight when she lived on a Hawaiian army base. Partying at a skating rink with her two brothers, Janisa humorously recalls her first intimate moment with music. “I heard Mary J. Bilge’s ‘Real Love‘…I just danced so hard to that song.” Borrowing from her West Indian Roots, Janisa successfully infuses, dancehall, Hip-Hop and R& B music to create a unique but classic sound. All aforementioned genres the budding music star says "are equally influential" in the development of her distinct talents. Janisa’s debut album "This is For You", titled after the stand-out R&B track on the project, is generating a respectable buzz internationally, and region-wide with lead dancehall single, "BIG UP" gaining popularity amongst avid dancehall fans in Non-Commercial Radio Markets that include Reggae formats, such as WERS, WRIU, WDJZ and WCUW. Janisa’s new Album also boasts simplistic yet memorable lyrics on follow-up tracks like "So Sincere". Particularly, the fan favorite, "BIG UP", which is full of irresistible energy, is highlighted by it’s pretty chorus, sung in a variety of subtle arrangements all composed by Janisa exclusively.
