Listen to joshlee ulysse
“Who I am” Big Buddahluv named Joshlee Ulysse and has now dropped Big Buddahluv and is going by his God given name Joshlee was born by two Haitian immigrants in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Miami when he was ten. As a kid, he loved listening to Special ED, KRS 1, LL Cool J, and Public Enemy. He describes his music now as a mix of a southern style with gospel hip hop. “Got to be genuine, cause you doing it for the Lord!” he says. He has a distinctive voice that you can’t help but listen to when he gets in his element. It’s deep, very powerful, attention grabbing and has a lot of bass in it that the ladies just love!

“My accomplishments and performances” Some of the accomplishments of this up and coming recording artist begins with his first show at an annual festival in Miami. He and the group he was in at the time, got to open up for Bobby Womack and Betty Wright. He was invited to Hot Import Nights Car show to perform, and was also invited to perform at another car magazine car show in Miami, and also showcased for Cry Girl Entertainment. He has two songs in an independent movie with Solaris Studios called “Motel”. And all this happened before he turned to gospel hip hop.

“Where it came from” It wasn’t until Joshlee’s friend came to him and revealed that God spoke to him and said to tell Joshlee to assist him with his work with getting the youth to come back to him (God) with the gift he has given him, and he shall lack nothing! So Joshlee said yes he will do it and doors have been opening for him ever since. So Joshlee started telling people he does gospel rap and now they ask him how much does he charge to come perform at their events, and they haven’t even heard his music yet! He couldn’t understand before when he was selling his CD’s why people would ask him “is this gospel rap?”. Or why people were always inviting him to church. Now he does, he knows exactly what God was preparing him for. By letting him get exposure with his stage presence, he was preparing Joshlee to lead his younger siblings to their father by doing his work.
Since his crossover to gospel hip hop, his latest project “Gods plan 4 me”, has a radical track on it called “I Receive” which he says is inspired by the youth of today, and his new church home St. Mark A.M.E. and their Pastor Terence Gray. Joshlee says God showed him a way to get the attention of the children. “You can’t sit a plate of broccoli in front of a child and just say eat it its good for you. If you want them to devour it and ask for more, you got to get more creative on how you cook it and present it” he says. He had his first gospel show at his church Sunday Dec.20 2009 and he got all of the youth 21 and under to come on stage and perform the song with him. And to make the show even sweeter, God gave Joshlee this vision that Wednesday night and he told him that’s how he wanted him to perform his show that Sunday. He also plans to take his show to at least 100 churches or more for 2010. His focus right now is on the important messages that the youth are gaining from his music, and getting them to God so they to can find their calling in the body of Christ.
