The album consists of mid-high tempo songs that have great sounding chord progressions and very catchy lyrics that stay in your head. The songs have various influences in them that make each track distinctive but the collection of sounds works well together. Influences of country can be heard on "I can't make myself love you", rockabilly with "Borrowed time", pop with "Excuses", sixties with "Dr. George", "Mr. Hate" and "The girl next door", philosophical with "Don't lose your sleep", "Only the dead know for sure" and "I'm still sane", a nice smokey bar sound with a great horn part on "Wallflower's Lament", "Big Brother" has a traditional rock sound with a protest attitude, "Better Off" is different to say the least but definitely a fun tune, "Get out of my way" has a straight up blues progression with lyrics that everyone can relate to, and finally we finish up with an instrumental that Scott describes as "punk surf" aptly named "Getting a rusty tan under the scrap iron sun"! We recorded one cover tune that was made popular by Herman's Hermits named "No milk today" to try and capture our core sound but with our influences. Overall it is a fun sound that anyone can enjoy and captures the attitudes of the artists themselves. I have been told we are a mix of Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and even the Violent Femmes too but I do not know their music.
